  • Capitalism v. Socialism

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

This is a quote from 1931  (Adrian Rogers)

  • Economic Savior

... just read a news story about the $3.55 trillion budget proposal President Savior has submitted. Economists suggest there's no way he can cut the deficit and "protect the middle class--the 'working class'" from tax increases.

In a year or two, you all just remember back to his constant "hope"ful campaign promises where he touted his class-warfare tax-increases only on couples who made more than $250,000 a year. All the "workers" cheered with envy, and even a little bit of glee, figuring that, "they'll get theirs!" Now, economists say the tax increases will start sliding down that scale, to those who make $150,000, or even $100,000, or even $75,000. Let's hear you all cheer when the coming tax increases reach YOUR OWN pockets!

  • Economic Stimulus?

Has anyone noticed an anagram for the economic stimulus plan's official name ("Troubled Assets Recovery Program")? They call it TARP, in accordance with the government's love of the use of acronyms. It occurred to me the other day that an easy anagram is TRAP! What road are we going down? Where is our country heading? We all think it's perfectly normal and acceptable and even preferable that our government uses our money to bail out failed companies?!

And in the midst of all the serious troubles facing our country ... I'm SO GLAD they took their time to extend the deadline for the switchover to digital broadcasting. How much legislative energy and attention and resources were wasted on that stupidity. They decided they needed to extend the deadline because they didn't think people were ready????? What? If you've watched about three and a half minutes of television over the past year, you couldn't have missed the information, the solutions, the free coupon for $40 off the adapter, and our brilliant and dedicated senators and congressmen (and even our new president!) decided that there might still be people who didn't know about it and weren't ready for it! GOOD GRIEF!!! I figure if someone's not yet noticed the transition was coming, and hasn't taken the energy to make sure they're ready, then they don't deserve to watch any television broadcasting. But this is so in line with our new direction in government, where folks who are too stupid and too lazy to take care of themselves must have the government step in to save them from themselves!

About Me

  • I'm a 14-year-old guy trapped in an ever-aging body. My life philosophy is summed up in two slogans: "I refuse to grow up" and "Life's too important to be taken seriously." Okay, so who am I kidding, I'm an old guy who just refuses to give in to convention and act my age. I think God understands. After all, he made me this way!
